Located along the Swift River and the Kancamagus Scenic Byway, the Russell-Colbath Barn is located at the Russell-Colbath Historic site. It is available for reservation and is ideal for family gatherings, weddings or other community events. The Russell-Colbath Barn offers a unique opportunity for small or large group gatherings in a rustic setting.

Natural Features:

The "Barn" shares the site with visitors to the historic Russell-Colbath House. It is near the Swift River, and is surrounded by mature forest and a mowed clearing


The Swift River and the accessible Rail to Trail hiking trail are accessed from this location. Several other hiking trails are located nearby. Jigger Johnson Campground, with 76 campsites, is adjacent to this site. The historic Russell-Colbath House and cemetery are part of this site and provide a historical background to this nice setting.


The "Barn" will accommodate up to 120 people. There is no fireplace, kitchen, camping on site, or garbage containers. Two picnic tables, two fold-out indoor tables and 75 chairs are provided. Electricity is provided from an on-site generator.

Nearby Attractions:

Local attractions are the Rails to Trails interpretive trail on- site, the nearby Jigger Johnson and Passaconaway Campgrounds, Sabbaday Falls, several hiking trails, and further east, Lower Falls Picnic Area on the Swift River. Further destinations include Attitash Resort, Pinkham Notch, Mt. Washington Cog Railway and Auto Road, and other outdoor attractions.

Directions: The Russell-Colbath Barn is located on the Kancamagus Highway (State Route 112), 12.5 miles west of Conway, New Hampshire. It is just west of Bear Notch Road, in the White Mountain National Forest. The Russell-Colbath Barn is approximately 18 miles east of Lincoln, NH on State Highway 112.
